Alright,
So I was thinking. There is almost no way we will ever find someone who will take the liability and buy us a new/almost new boat. Also, it will take 10 years for the club to save up enough money to buy a new/almost new boat, which will mean nothing to any of us (unless you are a 10 year college hero).
So, Cliff suggested that we just buy another nautique, similar to the one we have now. The club could afford one with the help of some monetary funding. The boat would be completely in the clubs name, so if the club ever wanted to sell/upgrade it would be possible. And no one would have any liability from the boat. Anyone with responsibility and a truck could take the boat to the lake, etc.
Let me know what you think.

*nod, smile, agree*
i think the main thing is that we need two boats to use on the busy days just to get everyone who wants a set in. this lets us get everyone in a boat, and able to get in at least one pull, probably more.
im not picky tho, back home i ride behind a fishing boat...so i'm happy if it just throws a wake.

okay this is a great idea but there is only one huge problem with it because unless it is donated we will have to do a cash advance from the sofc (from our school bank account) and because it would be such a heft purchase not only would we need our advisor's signature but we would also have to get another one from another person (sorry i dont remember who exactly since we have never had to do something like this) who has to approve this purchase

So you are saying that it would be the club boat and anyone with a truck could take it out. I see a huge problem here. Not everyone with a truck can take a boat to the lake. There is a lot of responsibility that goes along with driving, loading, and the safety of the others in the boat. To me it sounds like anyone that pays their dues is entitled to taking the boat out. Am I correct? I think having designated people that can take the boat is the only safe way. Maybe this is just my age talking but I don’t think paying 40 or 150 qualifies someone to drive a boat. I’m sure Leo, you and Andrew have discussed this before bringing it up. These are just my $.02.

I think with two boats we could definitely support more members and then we would be way more appealing to master craft to sponsor us...

That's not going to happen, just sayin'.
Mastercraft will not put a boat down for a college team to use anytime soon.

having a lot of members is better to get any kind of sponsorships.. and the club will be generating more from dues..

You've got to know your sponsors.
And I know them very well.

I agree with Cody. Theres ALOT that goes into driving a boat, not to mention docking, towing, dropping and loading.

I could think of numerous mishaps in letting anybody drive the boat. There's not many of you I'd let drive my boat. That includes you Cody!
